About Cliverton

Cliverton - backed by a lifetime of experience

Cliverton was founded over forty years ago, and in 2003 the business was sold by the original owners and incorporated into the Lycetts group, while still maintaining our separate identity.

Cliverton thus has a working lifetime of experience in providing specialist insurance cover to animal related trades, rural and equestrian businesses, farms and smallholdings.

Today we use that knowledge to maintain our position as the market leader in our chosen fields.

Providing specialist cover

Cliverton continues to develop products for the specialist markets in which we operate and we aim to be the broker of first choice for these sectors.

We constantly monitor our competitors to make certain that our products are not only up to date and competitively priced, but also the ones for others to try to beat.

By specialising in selected classes of insurance, Cliverton has developed relationships with insurers which enable us to arrange cover for risks which have, traditionally, proved to be difficult to place. Most of our business is arranged through unique schemes with insurance companies, which are exclusive to Cliverton.

Unique charitable ownership structure

Cliverton is a trading name of Lycetts, a company wholly owned by Ecclesiastical Insurance Group. The ultimate owner of the Ecclesiastical group of companies is Allchurches Trust. The Trust is a registered charity and its aims are to carry out a wide range of charitable functions, frequently in support of individuals or groups in need.

Grants are considered in response to appeals in support of Churches, Church establishments, religious charities and charities preserving UK heritage. Further information is available on their website

Thus, uniquely in the insurance industry, our available group profits are entirely devoted to charitable purposes. This structure fosters an ethical approach to the transaction of insurance business, and to a high level of client trust.

Cliverton - an innovative insurance company

In 2011 we were the first broker to offer three of our animal trades products for immediate sale on-line and this is an increasingly important part of our business. The Cliverton website continues to be developed to answer the consumer's demands for rapid service.

In February 2012 we added enhanced cover for shoots, shooting syndicates and clay pigeon clubs.

2013 saw the development of our new shoot cancellation policy, and so far in 2014 we have expanded our website to include direct debit payments, in addition to credit cards. We work hard to develop insurance policies that match our client’s needs and we continue to negotiate with our insurers for enhancements in cover for the trades we insure.

Please go to the products page for a full list of the classes of business in which we specialise.

Knowledgeable, experienced and enthusiastic staff

The majority of our staff at Cliverton comes from a background of working with or owning animals, so you can be certain that the person you speak to will understand your business requirements and guide you through to the most appropriate insurance solution for you.

Regulation bringing peace of mind

We regard the security of insurers as paramount and we only arrange insurance through companies which are authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Following the retirement of the original owner in 2003, Cliverton now operates as a separate trading division of Lycetts, which is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Please see the Terms and conditions page for further information.
