Farm insurance
Cliverton have a long history of providing cover for farmers and livestock breeders. Through our parent company we also share wide experience of the insurance requirements of agricultural estates, larger farms and the owners of rural properties and businesses.
This is backed up by access to insurers who specialise in these classes of business, resulting in a combination of the widest cover at an affordable premium.
In addition to the larger farms in which we specialise, we have also adapted a scheme which is specifically aimed at small holders, and which is priced at an affordable level.
We can cover all of your requirements for employer’s liability, public liability, produce, livestock and property damage.
Public liability
Ownership or occupation of land creates the possibility of a public liability claim, where a visitor or member of the public has suffered loss or injury as a result of negligence on your part. This may include the escape of animals from your property.
To protect you from claims of this nature, public liability insurance is the core cover provided by our smallholder's insurance policy, and in addition to farm or grazing land, we are able to include undeveloped investment property, and land in common ownership (for example, access roads on privately owned residential developments).
We are able to cover basic equestrian activities on our policy. Where more extensive requirements arise, we have access to the major horse and equestrian liability insurers.
The policy can also be extended to include all the additional items set out below.
Employer’s Liability
It is a statutory requirement that anyone employing individuals on a full-time, part-time or casual basis, must arrange employer’s liability insurance. This requirement also applies to unpaid helpers.
Farm property
A wide range of cover can be arranged for all farming property, including buildings, produce, deadstock, small tools, machinery and office contents. Business interruption cover may be added, in order to protect your income following damage by an insured peril.
Livestock
In addition to the basic fire insurance, cover can be arranged against theft, straying, transit and sheep worrying by dogs. Full mortality cover can be provided for breeding livestock. Subject to the provision of additional information, insurance is normally available for livestock diseases, including Foot and Mouth, Brucellosis and bovine TB.
Household
As well as business property, the policy can also cover the owner’s household buildings and contents, together with let houses if appropriate. The contents section will include jewellery and personal effects. Our household department can quote separately for the full range of household insurance, including travel insurance and cover for high value properties.
Agricultural Motor
Cliverton have arrangements with a number of companies for the insurance of individual agricultural vehicles and also larger farm fleets, including commercial vehicles and private cars as appropriate.
Excess
The Public Liability and Employers’ Liability sections are not subject to any excess (other than an excess of £250 in respect of damage to third party property). Property damage claims are subject to various levels of excess and full details will be provided at the time of quotation. Excesses on motor fleet policies vary, depending on the insurance company underwriting the policy.
To arrange your insurance policy
The cover summarised above can be matched to your particular circumstances. In order to obtain a quotation please contact us to discuss your insurance requirements in greater detail. There is no obligation on you at this stage, and the full terms and conditions of the policy will be explained to you. A written quotation will be provided.
In the case of larger farms and estates, you will find that the quick quote forms are not sufficiently detailed to summarise all of your requirements. Please telephone to speak to an adviser who will obtain all of the information that we will need to claim.
