History

Cliverton was founded in 1973, as a general insurance broker but specialising in particular in the livestock sector.

From this, the company developed specialist schemes to cover a range of animal-related industries, and also for rural businesses, farms and smallholdings. We continue to develop products for these industries and we aim to be the broker of first choice for the specialist markets in which we operate.

Please go to the products page for a full list of the classes of business in which we specialise.

In 2003, following the retirement of the original owner of the business, Cliverton was acquired by Lycett, Browne-Swinburne & Douglass Ltd (Lycetts), and the Cliverton office was transferred to Lycetts existing premises. Cliverton now operates as a separate trading division of Lycetts, who are regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Please see regulatory section for further information.

By specialising in selected classes of insurance, Cliverton has developed relationships with insurers which enable us to arrange cover for risks which have, traditionally, proved to be difficult to place. Most of our business is arranged through special schemes with insurance companies, which are exclusive to Cliverton.

We regard the security of insurers as paramount and we only arrange insurance through companies which are approved by the Financial Services Authority.

The majority of our staff at Cliverton come from a background of working with or owning animals, so you can be certain that the person you speak to will understand your business requirements.
