This policy is suitable for people and businesses involved in gamekeeping, deer stalking, vermin or pest control activities and are looking to cover public liability. This is not suitable for those working as an agent.

POLICY INFORMATION

What activities are covered?

Gamekeeping and vermin control – automatically included in the policy are vermin control, the use of rifles and shot guns, environmental work, fencing and property maintenance, beating/loading on shoots and game rearing. Please contact us to find out what other gamekeeping activities we cover.

Deer stalking – we cover both contracts and instructors providing a deer stalking service. If you take fee-paying guests deer stalking, please let us know as this may incur an additional premium. Our policy also automatically includes the sale of venison.

Water bailiffs and ghillies – we cover both water bailiffs and ghillies. If you take fee-paying guests, please let us know as this may incur an additional premium.

DEFRA culling/ population control – where you control the numbers of an animal species

Humane destruction of injured animals – where you collect and dispose of road injured animals

Environmental activities and educational talks, lectures and training – we can include this as an insured activity should you need it.

Use of rifles, shotguns and birds of prey – automatically included where used in connection to your business. We can also include the use of bird of prey for public events and handling.

 

Public Liability

Designed to protect you against liability claims for injury caused to third parties or damage to their property as a result of your negligence. Ffor instance if a member of the public was injured by a stray bullet.

The standard limit is £5 million, but it can be extended to £10 million for an additional premium.

Please check your  council or Forestry Commission contract, they may require a specific level of public liability.

 

Products Liability

This covers the business for up to £5 million if injuries or damages arise as a result of a defective product that your business had supplied.

 

Fee Paying Guests (optional extra)

If you are taking a fee-paying guest with you for the day or as an instructor then this will provide the public liability for the guest.

Employers’ Liability (optional cover)

If you have paid, voluntary or self-employed helpers working for your business, you are legally required to have this insurance as this will provide cover should suffer an injury while at work. The amount of cover provided is £10 million. It is important that you inform us should you have anybody who assists you on a voluntary basis.

Professional Indemnity (optional cover)

Protects your business should you offer professional advice for a fee. For example advising on how to control the population of a species, and it results in either a physical or financial loss. The resultant claims can be covered up to a standard of £500,000, however we are now able to offer lower levels of cover (£100,000 and £250,000) at reduced premiums.

Equipment & Property (optional extra)

We can cover your businesses property and equipment, from small items (such as handheld equipment) to large (such as  ride-on lawn mowers). We are also able to arrange cover for your tools and guns, as well as cover for commercial premises, business interruption, theft of money and your home.

Personal Accident Cover (optional extra)

Provides financial compensation should the insured party be injured while carrying out business activities. You can choose from benefits of up to £250 per week.. This section includes a lump sum compensation for accidental death, permanent loss of sight and/or limbs and total disablement.

Please note that this does not cover any pre-existing conditions or illness, or any injury sustained whilst commuting to or from work.

What is excluded?

  • Your own personal liability for the use or ownership of a gun
  • Recreational shooting activities.
  • Damage to crops by game birds,
  • Liability for your activities as a sporting agent
  • Any shoots outside of the UK
  • Any excess applicable.
