This insurance policy is suitable for people and businesses who wish to cover their public liability whilst walking dogs. It is not suitable for people wishing to insure their own dog.

Business Activities Covered
The policy will cover you to walk a maximum of 6 dogs at any one time and includes walking dogs off lead (prior written consent is required).
It also includes cover for your immediate family (spouse, partner, child over the age of 16) or parent (if they live with you) to help you out with your business. This allows family members to assist you, such as feeding the dogs whilst they are staying with you. (Please note that this extension excludes house sitting in other people’s homes or any injuries they may sustain).
The policy will cover you or an employee to look after the following animals –
- Dogs & Cats
Should you require cover to look after a dog under a Dog Control Order or a banned breed please contact the office on 01328 857921.
- Small domestic animals
Such as Rabbits, Guinea Pigs & Hamsters etc.
- Horses, Ponies & Donkeys
The policy will provide cover for the incidental care of horses, ponies & donkeys, please note that this provides only basic care and excludes any riding, excising or lunging. We do offer a freelance grooms policy should you require this please click here.
- Reptiles & Birds
This allows you to look after reptiles & birds such as snakes or budgies however please note we are unable to offer cover for any animal which is subject to the DWAA.
- Domesticated Farm Animals
Such as chickens, sheep or goats providing they are not commercially used.
Designed to protect you against liability claims for injury caused to third parties or damage to their property as a result of your negligence. For instance if a dog escapes and injures a member of the public.
The standard limit is £5 million, but it can be extended to £10 million for an additional premium.
This covers the business up to £5 million if injuries or damages arise as a result of a defective product that your business had supplied. Please note, this does not cover you for products which you sell.
Care, Custody & Control unlimited cover
Cover is provided for any claim made against you for either injury, loss or death of a dog while in the care, custody or control of you or an employee.
Non-Negligent Cover unlimited cover
Covers incidents where there is no negligence or fault on the business’ part, but a third party still experiences a loss or injury. For example, if a dog in the walker’s care is injured by a dog belonging to a third party.
Loss of Keys £10,000
if you are looking after a customer’s keys as part of your business, we provide cover should the keys be lost or stolen from either you or an employee, or locked in a building.
Employers’ Liability (optional extra)
If you have paid, voluntary or self-employed helpers working for your business, you are legally required to have this insurance as this will provide cover should they suffer an injury while at work. The amount of cover provided is £10 million. If you have or are thinking about having school age work experience, please contact us.
Equipment & Property (optional extra)
We can cover your organisation’s property and equipment, from small items (such as leads and collars) to large (such as office equipment). We are also able to arrange cover for commercial premises, business interruption, theft of money and your home. If you also need cover for equipment or property damage, please contact us. If you are running your business from your own home, we recommend that you notify your home insurer
Personal Accident Cover (optional extra)
provides financial compensation should the insured party be injured while carrying out business activities. You can choose from benefits of up to £250 per week.. This section includes a lump sum compensation for accidental death, permanent loss of sight and/or limbs and total disablement.
Please note that this does not cover any pre-existing conditions or illness, or any injury sustained whilst commuting to or from work.
Events, Shows & Fundraising (optional extra)
We can cover one-off and multiple events, shows and fundraising in connection to your business.
What is excluded?
Walking more than 6 dogs at any one time. Any animal subject to the Dangerous Wild Animals Act (DWAA), damage to property owned by yourself or an employee of your business (including car or van). Any work outside of the UK, Northern Ireland or the Channel Islands or any excess applicable. Vet fees or public liability for any animals owned by you or your employees.
