This policy is suitable for people, businesses or rescue organisations who are looking to cover their public liability for the rescuing and re-homing of animals. What business activities are covered?

Cover for rescuing any small domestic animals from cats to snakes and any small wildlife such as hedgehogs. If you deal with the occasional larger animals such as horses or donkeys, please still get in touch as we may well be able to help.


Public Liability

This covers claims arising from the actions of you, an employee or the one of the animals which has resulted in injury to a third-party or damage to their property due to your negligence.

The standard limit is £5,000,000; this can be extended to £10,000,000 for an additional premium.

Products Liability

Will cover you for claims arising from products (up to £5 million) used by you during the course of your business activities.

Employers’ Liability (optional extra)

Where you have paid, voluntary (including foster carers) or self-employed helpers working for you in connection with your business, it is a legal requirement that you have employers’ liability insurance. This will provide cover in the event of them being injured whilst working for you due to your negligence.

The amount of cover provided is £10,000,000.

Professional Indemnity (optional extra)

If you give professional advice as a service for a separate fee and that advice results in either a physical or financial loss, professional indemnity will cover any resultant claims.

Standard cover is payable up to £500,000 but we are able to also offer lower limits of professional indemnity cover for reduced premiums.

Equipment & Property (optional extra)

You can add cover for business property and equipment to your policy. This can include most items used for your business ranging from small items such as leads and collars and stock to large items such as office equipment.

We are also able to arrange additional cover for commercial premises, business interruption, theft of money and your home.

If you are running a business from your home we recommend that you notify your home insurer.

Personal Accident Cover (optional extra)

Provides financial compensation should the insured party be injured while carrying out business activities. You can choose from benefits of up to £250 per week.. This section includes a lump sum compensation for accidental death, permanent loss of sight and/or limbs and total disablement.

Please note that this does not cover any pre-existing conditions or illness, or any injury sustained whilst commuting to or from work.

Events, Shows & Fundraising (optional extra)

Where you organize events, shows or fundraising in connection with your business, we are able to arrange the public liability.

We are able to arrange cover for just the one event or multiple events depending on your requirements.

What is excluded?

Cover for any rescuing or rehoming of dogs. Cover for rescuing or rehoming animals which are subject to the Dangerous Wild Animals Act (DWAA). Cover for the animals if they are injured or any vet fees. We cannot cover any animals rescued outside of the United Kingdom or any products you may sell.
